What is a Successful Habit?

By no means is this article going to tell you what successful habits you should have. I'm not in any position to decide what successful habits your life should include and why.

If you don't have any successful habits you already do daily, then you must create goals. Having a vision of where you want to go will provide you with an outline of the habits you must undertake in order to be successful at making your dreams reality. How Can you Chain Successful Habits Together?

Instead of focusing on "what" or "why" certain habits make a person successful. But rather the goal of this content is to shift your attention to the "how"?

How will you most efficiently complete your successful habits each day? And to elaborate even more, how can you can commit these habits to your subconscious mind and behave successfully without consciously having to focus on what your next most important task is?This is a concept I like to call "anchoring" your habits together. It is also referred to as "habit stacking".

The best part of anchoring your successful habits together is that all you need to do is focus on doing one thing everyday! From there the rest of your successful habits will flow, if you anchor them together.

Focus On The Initial Task

Let me give you an example. Personally, I believe that mental and physical health are imperative to a properly functioning brain/body, and overall productivity. With that in mind many of my success habits align with mental and physical health. This may not be the same for you, but for the sake of my personal example, that is what my "success chain"revolves around.

My initial success habit is working out. After my workout my brain meditates for 10-30 minutes depending on what is necessary to clear the thoughts. As well as clearing thoughts, meditation is my time to review my goals, and make sure I'm on track.

For me, this time is used to think through my relationships (with my wife, family, friends, and society), my work (communicating with clients, writing engaging content, etc.), my dreams and aspirations, and finally what needs to happen next!

Typically this time helps to me to greatly appreciate what I have, and what I need to do in order to make the vision of my future a reality.

Create Easy and Repeatable Success Chains

Life is complicated, and does not have to be that way! The best part of this practice of chaining your success habits together is that it will eventually become subconscious behavior. After months of meditating after my workouts it seems odd not to do it after any physical activity.

Keep in mind your success chain may start with something simple like, taking a walk, eating, or even waking up out of bed! Make it simple to start and build more and more successful habits into your chain as you see them fit.

Life is a beautiful gift and we must take full advantage of each and every day!
